The Original LEGO movie wins the Oscar : NASA Jumps On 'Interstellar' Win

Not everything was awesome for Lego last night -- the company could have done with a nomination for "The Lego Movie" -- but that didn’t stop it from winning something during the Oscars. Lego was the most talked about brand on Twitter during last night's award show.

Even without a nomination, Lego was visible throughout the night. Viewers repeatedly saw celebrities holding Oscar awards made of Legos, and there was an entire number of “Everything is Awesome.” The brand recorded over 47,000 mentions on Twitter last night, with 45% being positive and 14% negative.

That’s according to Amobee Brand Intelligence, a digital marketing company. Amobee notes that Lego was boosted by earned media, and was the most talked about brand after the first hour of the Oscars as well.

Dove was second with 29,250 social mentions, with a whopping 91% being positive and only 3% negative. Amobee notes this was boosted by an earned campaign. Dove's #SpeakBeautiful hashtag had 14,148 mentions on Twitter (95% positive) in the two hour lead up to the Oscars, per Amobee. "There was a 400% rise in mentions during the two hours before the Oscars, almost entirely online and organically generated," a company representative said. Coke was third with 12,600 mentions (28% positive, 14% negative), Samsung was fourth (23% positive, 9% negative) and McDonalds was fifth (17% positive, 21% negative).

Lady Gaga dominated mentions among celebrities, hauling in over half a million, with 38% being positive. However, Patricia Arquette of “Boyhood” may end up being the most talked about in the long run. She finished the night as the second most mentioned celebrity with 168,930 mentions, 48% of which were positive. Arquette was the center of attention after calling for gender equality -- particularly as it relates to pay -- during her acceptance speech.

Merely Streep was seen cheering for Arquette’s message, and she ended up being the seventh most talked about celebrity last night, with 89,712 mentions, 28% of which were positive. When it came to “real-time marketing” tweets, perhaps the most popular was NASA’s, which one-upped Interstellar’s visual effects award by showing a non-edited visual of Earth. The tweet has gained over 10,000 retweets and nearly 10,000 favorites, and counting.

Kanye West Didn’t accept His adidas shoes To Cost $350

Kanye West Didn’t accept His adidas shoes To Cost $350
Kanye West talked about a lot of different things during his appearance on Power 105.1′s The Breakfast Club on Friday morning.

From his relationship with Amber Rose to his thoughts of the relationship between Tyga and Kylie Jenner, Kanye talked about it all. And that included Kanye’s new adidas Yeezy Boost sneakers. He spent quite a bit of time discussing the design of the sneakers and actually shed some light on a few things concerning their release. Specifically, Kanye was asked why the sneakers cost $350.

It’s a pretty odd price point when you think about it, and Kanye and adidas could have picked just about any price point that they wanted.

So he was asked why he eventually settled on that one. And he responded by revealing that he didn’t have anything to do with making the sneakers $350. But that’s not the only thing he didn’t have any control over.

He also said that he didn’t want the sneaker to be super limited. But adidas did, which was why there were only 9,000 pairs of the Yeezy Boosts released at first.

“I don’t want them to be limited, actually, that’s something that the company did,” he said. “I really want as many people to get them as possible.

I didn’t want the price to be $350. I don’t want to play this sneaker culture game and all this, so they be reselling them for high prices and stuff. I just want people to have what I make.” So does that mean that Kanye is unhappy with adidas?

Not at all. In fact, he went on to compare his relationship with the company to a marriage. “At the start of a relationship, you ain’t gonna have all the control,” he said. “It’s a marriage, and usually the first year of the situation is the toughest.

And then, when you start to communicate, it could be powerful.” adidas is expected to release more Yeezy Boosts through their website today. If you feel like paying $350 for a pair, be on the lookout for them.

Jr.-Manny Pacquiao VS Floyd Mayweather Showdown Is Finally Set

Jr.-Manny Pacquiao VS Floyd Mayweather Showdown Is Finally Set
The welterweights Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao, widely considered two of the greatest boxers of their generation, have agreed to terms for a bout on May 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The deal was completed on Friday after months of speculation, which began in earnest after Pacquiao’s victory against Chris Algieri on Nov. 22. They met at halftime of a Miami Heat game on Jan. 27, fueling renewed interest in the bout. The fighters were clearly aware of the public’s demand for the fight, as well as its waning patience for the two sides to come together.

“I promised the fans we would get this done, and we did,” Mayweather wrote on the social media platform Shots. Pacquiao said in a statement: “I am very happy that Floyd Mayweather and I can give the fans the fight they have wanted for so many years.

They have waited long enough, and they deserve it.” Mayweather, who turns 38 on Tuesday, is 47-0, with 26 knockouts. Pacquiao, 36, is 57-5-2, with 38 knockouts. The fight will be broadcast as part of a joint venture between Showtime Sports, which holds the rights to Mayweather, and HBO Sports, which has Pacquiao’s rights. It will be distributed on pay per view at a fee that has yet to be determined. Details of the production for Mayweather-Pacquiao, including who the announcers will be, were not available.

“This deal is the product of a lot of hard work,” said Stephen Espinoza, the executive vice president and general manager at Showtime Sports. But he acknowledged the difficulty in finalizing an agreement, adding that there were “blood, sweat, and tears along the way.” Espinoza said Mayweather’s World Boxing Association and World Boxing Council championships would be at stake in the unification bout, along with Pacquiao’s World Boxing Organization belt. Of more importance, though, is the unofficial title of this era’s greatest pound-for-pound fighter, which many will award to the bout’s winner.

Showtime and HBO teamed up for the 2002 heavyweight championship match between Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson. Ken Hershman, the president of HBO, said that the Lewis-Tyson deal was instrumental in the negotiations. “I think it was a real good road map for all of us,” Hershman said. “It showed that this could be done successfully.” Espinoza singled out Leslie Moonves, chief executive of CBS Corporation, whose holdings include Showtime, as being particularly instrumental in the talks. Bob Arum, the president of Top Rank Promotions, which promotes Pacquiao, agreed. “This fight never would’ve happened without him,” Arum said of Moonves.

He added that Moonves and the HBO chairman Richard Plepler were “the adults in the room.”
Jr.-Manny Pacquiao VS Floyd Mayweather Showdown Is Finally Set
The fight is expected to be the highest-grossing fight ever. Multiple reports estimated that the purse could exceed $200 million and that there would be a 60/40 split in Mayweather’s favor. “This will be the biggest event in the history of the sport,” said Mayweather.

“Manny is going to try to do what 47 before him failed to do, but he won’t be successful. He will be number 48.” Early in the negotiations, representatives for other sites lobbied to stage the match. One was AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Tex., which could have accommodated more than 100,000 fans. But the MGM Grand has served as something of a home to Mayweather and Pacquiao in recent years — Mayweather’s last 10 fights have been there, as have five of Pacquiao’s last seven — and it quickly became clear that the 16,800-seat arena was the only serious contender for the fight.

Arum said that Pacquiao, in his second term as a congressman in the Philippines, planned to leave boxing by the end of 2016 and wanted this to secure his standing as one of the greatest ever. “He needed to have this fight to cement his legacy in the sport,” Arum said. “This is a fight he believes he’s going to win.”

Today is Kurt Cobain's 48th birthday

20 February 2015: If all was right with the world, today would be Kurt Cobain's 48th birthday.

Devastatingly, he didn't even each the age of 30. When the lead singer of Nirvana, one of the most innovative and influential bands of the 20th century, committed suicide in 1994 aged just 27, the world was shaken.

But few were more affected than his friend and bandmate Dave Grohl. Time and time again since 1994, Grohl has spoken with beautiful poignancy of the life and death of his friend, and the effect his suicide had, and continues to have, on his own life.

To mark the anniversary of the birth of one of music's true greats, revisit the most brilliant, moving things Dave Grohl has said about Kurt Cobain.

"It was probably the worst thing that has happened to me in my life. I remember the day after I woke up and I was heartbroken that he was gone. I just felt like, 'Okay, so I get to wake up today and have another day, and he doesn't.'" [Radio 1, 2009]

Emma Watson And Prince Harry Are Dating Has Shaken Muggles Everywhere

A totally unconfirmed rumor from Australia’s Women’s Day claims that after Emma Watson and rugby player Matthew Janney split last year, Prince Harry sent her a letter inviting her to a party.

“Harry didn’t want her to feel like she was put on the spot,” an “insider” told the tabloid. “A party also shows he’s fun and not stuffy.” The source added, “He’s smitten – and it’s more than Emma’s looks.”

Emma Watson And Prince Harry Are Dating Has Shaken Muggles Everywhere

Fans are going nuts over the idea of Emma Watson dating Prince Harry, and I’m one of them! A recent report claims they’ve gone on several dates, which is amazing. Not only are they both gorgeous, but they are both charitable people.

And good humanitarians should definitely sleep with each other. I can’t argue with the idea of two good looking and giving people procreating together. Sure, Emma Watson and Prince Harry are only reportedly dating (I shouldn’t get ahead of myself), but there are so many reasons why these two make the ultimate power couple. Find out why I think so!

Prince Harry & Emma Watson Relationship — Reasons Why They Should Totally Date First and foremost, Emma, 24, and Prince Harry, 30, are both gorgeous in their own right. But together, their sexiness is immeasurable.

Secondly, they’re both super caring humanitarians, who are dedicated to causes bigger than themselves. Prince Harry does a lot of charity work, and he co-founded an organization for orphans called Sentebale.

He also runs a foundation with his brother, Prince William, which helps at-risk youths and veterans. And most of Prince Harry’s work is with kids –UNICEF, WellChild, etc. — which is really cool because his late mother, Princess Diana, was the same way.

As the UN Women’s Goodwill Ambassador, Emma has also worked with UNICEF. So they totally have that in common! Furthermore, Emma and Prince Harry both know what it’s like growing up as a celebrity, and they can understand what it’s like to constantly be in the public eye.

Chris Bosh admitted to Hospital

Chris Bosh could miss rest of season with blood clots on his lungs

Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh will undergo more tests on his lungs on Friday, and it is feared that he could have blood clots on his lungs that would cause him to miss the rest of the season, Joseph Goodman of the Miami Herald reports.

The Heat confirmed on Thursday that Bosh had been admitted to a local hospital to undergo testing. If blood clots are found on his lungs, Bosh will need to use blood thinners and will not be able to play this season. Bosh was sent to the hospital after reporting for practice Thursday feeling "under the weather," according to head coach Erik Spoelstra.

The team didn't reveal the nature of the testing, but the Herald reported that initial tests focused on Bosh's lungs. A Heat spokesman said initial testing was inconclusive. "In terms of all the rumors and speculation, we're aware of all the things that are out there,'' Spoelstra said, according to the Associated Press. ''Everybody's jumping the gun right now.

I know there's a lot out there. "Frankly, there's not a full diagnosis right now. So for everybody to speculate, right now at this stage it's very premature," he added. Bosh participated in the Shooting Stars event last Saturday during All-Star weekend and played 11 minutes in Sunday's All-Star Game, scoring 10 points. It wasn't made clear if Bosh remained in the hospital as of Thursday night, but according to the Associated Press, the 30-year-old didn't travel with the team to New York for its second-half opener against the Knicks on Friday.

Heat assistant coach Juwan Howard said earlier this week that Bosh has been dealing with a rib injury in recent weeks but that it wasn't enough to prevent him from playing. Bosh is averaging 21.1 points and seven rebounds per game this season. A free agent last offseason, he re-signed with Miami on a five-year, $118 million deal in July. The news of Bosh's hospital admittance came the same day the Heat acquired point guard Goran Dragic from the Phoenix Suns shortly before the trade deadline.

Jason Momoa's is going to be Aquaman on Batman movie !

First and foremost, I love how Warner Bros./

Time Warner TWX +0.67% Inc. and Zack Snyder have been so almost arbitrary about releasing bits and pieces from what is the new DC Cinematic Universe.

A press release here, a random photo on Twitter TWTR +0.97% there. Almost nothing gets leaked, pretty much every piece of information or image comes out when the powers-that-be want it to come out.

And last night’s surprise “first look” at Jason Momoa’s Aquaman is no exception. Mr. Snyder just went and dropped this official first-look photo on Twitter several hours ago (literally right after I went to bed, thanks a lot, pal!) with no notice and with no fanfare.

I’m starting to wonder if Zack Snyder is just going to drop the Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice teaser on his Twitter account on a random Sunday at 5:00am just to be annoying.

Speaking of which, this is a nice bit of misdirection. We were all expecting a Batman V Superman trailer, but instead we got a high-quality look at Aquaman.

Everyone and their sister have been chomping at the bit for the first would-be teaser for Batman V Superman” Dawn of Justice which was “supposed” to debut in front of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies before it was “supposed” to debut at the Super Bowl before it was “supposed” to debut before Jupiter Ascending. Unless Warner Bros. decides to attach it to Universal/Comcast CMCSA +0.75% Corp.’s Furious 7, we may in-fact end up waiting until May where it either debuts in front of Walt Disney's DIS +0.68% Avengers: Age of Ultron (which would be fitting, akin to Universal dropping its Hulk teaser in front of Spider-Man in 2002) or Mad Max: Fury Road two weeks later. Dropping a trailer is partially about keeping the film in the conversation and in the news cycle, but the above photo, which of course will inspire a million blog posts (mea culpa) with nothing more than an image and a vague tagline.

Since there are any number of iconic characters who will be “revealed” for Dawn of Justice and the various other movies in the works, Warner Bros. could very-well keep the film in the news cycle for the next year just by dropping one “first look” image a month (“Hey, it’s Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor!” “Hey, it’s Jared Leto as The Joker!”) and saving money on trailers. What is interesting is how much I’ve read about how relatively, for lack of a better word, “bad ass” this new Aquaman is. And of course, they didn’t hire Mr. Momoa so he could look sweet and wholesome.

Moreover, the notion that we should be surprised by how intimidating the character looks shows something of a generational disconnect. And that disconnect is actually Warner Bros.’ secret weapon in terms of the character standing on his own two sea legs for a stand-alone film. Point being, if you’re an adult who primarily knows the Aquaman character from Super Friends, you probably consider Arthur Curry to be a foppish figure of mockery and incompetence. You know the jokes. “Uh oh, The Penguin has robbed a bank and escaped by air, I’m sure that guy who can talk to animals will be really useful with that one!”

The helpless, useless, and comically inept Aquaman from Super Friends (obviously somewhat exaggerated by snarky fans of the show long after the fact) became the status quo for the underwater superhero. When Aquaman made his debut on the animated Justice League back in 2001, he was something of a revelation to a generation of young kids as well as adults unfamiliar with the comic versions (and let’s be honest, that’s most people at any given time). He was ripped, bare-chested, with long flowing hair and a very manly beard, and he proved his heroism in the initial episode by A) chopping off his own hand to save himself and his infant son and B) coldly letting his traitorous brother fall to his death.

If you weren’t an avid comics reader, this new and improved Aquaman was something of a revelation. Bruce Timm and the gang wisely kept him as a recurring character rather than as a regular member of the team, so his appearances were always something of a special event. Aquaman put in his time on Smallville, even getting a not-very-good spin-off pilot that never made it to series. But the next major incarnation was his supporting role in Batman: The Brave and the Bold. There are many wonderful things to say about Batman: The Brave and the Bold, an animated show that is in love with every aspect of the DC Comics universe, but the most impressive thing about it is how Aquaman is basically the best character on the show.

Appearing in the third episode and voiced by John Di Maggio, the animated Aquaman was an unapologetic blowhard and serial exaggerator, but also a genuinely kind and thoughtful friend to his fellow heroes and to the people of Atlantis. He absolutely loved being a hero and wasn’t afraid to admit it, and he was a prime source of earned comedy on a show that was often laugh-out-loud funny even while oddly being the most violent Batman animated show yet aired. Batman: The Brave and the Bold didn’t just make Aquaman cool, they made him the character you most wanted to see over the course of the show’s run. As such, he showed up in 27 of the 65 episodes, more than any other non-Batman superhero.

Here’s the rub to all of this. If you ask someone my age, they’ll probably still associate Aquaman from his stint on the Super Friends show back in the 1970′s and 1980s. But if you ask kids today or even young adults a generation removed from myself, their primary exposure to the Aquaman character is not the campy Super Friends variation, but rather the mighty warrior incarnation from Justice League and/or the righteously cheerful adventurer from Batman: The Brave and the Bold or even the PG-13 incarnations in the various DCAU DTV animated features in which he appeared. In short, if you talk to a kid who isn’t old enough to have had Super Friends be their first (and for much of their life, only) exposure to Aquaman, they already think Aquaman is pretty cool, or at-least decidedly not-lame.

The photo above is arguably least surprising to today’s kids because they didn’t grow up in an era where Aquaman was a figure of mockery and derision. As such, the biggest advantage that Warner Bros. has in terms of making the big-screen variation of Aquaman relevant to today’s moviegoers is that the kids of today already expect Aquaman to be cool. So when Jason Momoa grabs his trident, raises his arms in anger as thunder cracks and the waves rush under him, and bellows “That’s… outrageous!,” those who will be applauding will be doing so not out of mockery, but out of affection. Warner Bros. doesn’t need to convince kids of today that Aquaman is cool. Their animated properties over the last fifteen years did the job already.
